  • International writer and geologist Bronwen Jones has been awarded the 2011 Inyathelo Award for Philanthropy in Health for her remarkable work with children disfigured and orphaned by fire.


  • Professor Lorna Jacklin

    Professor Lorna Jacklin

  • Many visually impaired children do not have access to specialised health care in South Africa, especially in disadvantaged areas. Nor do children with autism. It is with this in mind that Professor Lorna Jacklin helped to establish the Children’s Disability Centre in 1983. Professor Jacklin was awarded the 2009 Inyathelo Award for Philanthropy in Health.

    Amanda Bloch became involved with raising money for the Children’s Hospital Trust while her infant son was treated at Red Cross Hospital after suffering total kidney failure.  Amanda was deeply moved by the work of doctors and nurses, in spite of outdated equipment, lack of space and poor facilities. She received the 2007 Inyathelo Award for Philanthropy in Health.
